Image Differencing: ID DMS-REQ-0032

3.2.3 Image Differencing: ID DMS-REQ-0032 (Priority: 1b)

Specification: The DMS shall provide software to perform image differencing, generating Difference Exposures from the comparison of single exposures and/or coadded images.

Associated Test Case: LVV-T126

  • It is ambiguous whether this  requires calexp-calexp diffs in addition to the more standard calexp-coadd diffs.
  • If we interpret it that way, then there is the issue that, Gen 3 doesn’t allow us to do calexp-calexp subtractions.

  • Single-epoch-depth coadd: is a regular coadd made from a single visit, or a suite of visits that don't actually overlap (or barely overlap) - but unlike the original single-visit image, still resampled to the kind of coordinate system we use for other coadds.
  • Pairwise processing in CPP in Gen3
