Notes from the previous meeting

Discussion items

DiscussedItemNotes
(tick)Project news, etc.
  • Crane (broken) and camera (vacuum line) issues still ongoing
  • Schedule workshop ongoing this week
  • All-hands meeting this Friday; may have updated dates re. above
  • LSST Europe was last week; AGN science collaboration expressed over coffee-breaks etc. that they have a catalog they'd like to see on RSP as well, stated as "complementary to DP0.2."  We don't have any further details at this time.
  • Frossie and Colin Slater visited last week.  Discussions re. next development steps; focus will be on front-end rework to enable TAP upload, async connection to TAP (which in turn will allow improved status reporting), and should free us from the dreaded mysql-proxy.  Fritz Mueller to provide a block diagram with further detail at next week's meeting.
  • Igor intending to return date Oct 8 (+ a few days to de-jet-lag).
  • Andy S. at Butler Client/Server Fest in Princeton this week.
(tick)Next Qserv release

 Changes:

  • improvements in Qserv monitoring and Web Dashboard
  • added support for the file-based result delivery
  • query cancellation improvements

Pending PRs were merged.  Build in progress now.

 (tick)"New" Qserv
  • Developments largely on hold for now, due to Igor's absence
  • Igor did some work this past week on updating containers to Alma 9
(tick)APDB/PPDB
  • Andy is wrapping up with some Cassandra optimizations/settings, will then be moving on to PPDB and APDB/PPDB integration/testing.
  • Andy expressed heads-up that monolithic Postgres for PPDB may not cut it – we need to test at scale to know.
  • Colin reminds us about deep drilling fields – significantly higher data density here within "1 year".  We should ask Andy if this has already been factored into his plans?
  • Colin reminds us it is okay to push back against unreasonable (or late-breaking) assumptions re. APDB/PPDB performance.
