DMLT Meeting Goals

  • Weekly meeting to keep the DM leadership team coordinated, informed, and in agreement on the vision, priorities, and challenges facing DM construction, including surfacing and resolving issues and ambiguities needing our attention. The goal of this meeting is to provide information and decisions that help each one of us better direct our own (or our team's) activities.

Discussion Items

Guidelines: Propose items in line with the meeting rationale (see above); include as much information in the agenda notes; summarize, don't go into details while on the call; maximize time available for discussion.

Notes

Early 2019 mini-JTM plans
  • Not many topics on Feb 2019 Potential DM All Hands Meeting
  • 2019 Feb 26-28 scheduled for DMLT; let's assume we use that week. Probably SST before and DMLT after.
  • Decision: there will not be an all hands meeting in February 2019.
    • We will encourage focused group meetings as required, e.g. AuxTel workshop.
    • Also potentially a “new middleware bootcamp”.
    • Jim Bosch has already been discussing a middleware hack week towards the end of this year with Michelle Gower .
    • Push to have Pegasus involved in any such middleware meeting.
  • Note that the DMLT meeting will go ahead as scheduled.
DMLT F2F in PrincetonWil O'Mullane
  • This is now ~one month away (starting 6 November; SST on 5 November).
  • Need to start putting an agenda together: please dump your ideas/requests to the meeting page before next week (2018-10-15).
  • Nassau Inn booking date now passed; if you need a room, contact Yusra AlSayyad .
Libby PetrickWil O'Mullane
  • Her last day will be 2018-10-22.
  • Some limited support (20%) through the end of this year.
  • There will be a presentation to her on 2018-10-21.
Project Updates
  • SE trip to Chile early Nov still going ahead minus Brian.
  • T&S software plan coming together good support from Russell.
  • A couple of Camera LCRs need moving on (esp RTM18 and Baffle non-conformance); Ranpal delegated sign off authority while Victor is away.
  • LSE-309 now very important for delivery of servers. Potentially old T&S contracts may not adhere to this.
  • Mandates to lock down guest networks. NCOA will tackle it but already guest networks and web filtering are in place. If there is something blocked you may need to request whitelisting.
  • Fibre now going to calibration hill (200 m fibre). Could now support EFD and DAQ on summit.

Alert stream volumeJeff Kantor
  • Jeff Kantor led a discussion on this.
  • Can probably support more alert streams than expected.
  • But LDF wants a complete analysis of all outgoing data rates.
  • Suggestion is to simply allocate 10 Gbps for alerts.
  • Jeff Kantor establish which baselined document will record the outgoing alert stream capacity.
  • Kian-Tat Lim work with the Data Facility to update the baselined document provided by Jeff Kantor to document the available bandwidth for, latency of, and number of alert streams. Became RFC-538 and DM-16280.
Base Data Center descopesJeff Kantor
  • Start working on DM13 descopes.
Long haul networks
  • Now have verbal agreement for 2x100 Gbps service between Atlanta and Chicago.
  • This gives guaranteed latency on the entire path from Cerro Pachon to NCSA.
  • Will retire network risks.
DMLT travel & availability this week
  • Overdue RFCs
