DMLT Meeting Goals

  • Weekly meeting to keep the DM leadership team coordinated, informed, and in agreement on the vision, priorities, and challenges facing DM construction, including surfacing and resolving issues and ambiguities needing our attention. The goal of this meeting is to provide information and decisions that help each one of us better direct our own (or our team's) activities.

Discussion Items

Guidelines: Propose items in line with the meeting rationale (see above); include as much information in the agenda notes; summarize, don't go into details while on the call; maximize time available for discussion.

  • Discussion of RFC-301 - Getting issue details... STATUS on LSST Test Stand 8 data:
    • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann: Exploring a new use case for /datasets: incremental addition of new immutable data. This has led to a little delay in reaching consensus on how to proceed. Robert Lupton: Also complicated by trying to understand how we think of this data as arising from "cameras" - are these mini-LSST-cameras? ComCam prototypes?
    • Is there continuity from handing Camera-generated files to how we will run the hardware in Chile?
    • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann / Kian-Tat Lim:
    • Once the initial work has been done to deal with the first batches of TS8 data, there will be a "hack week" for all the obs_* packages, most likely in June, coordinated by Simon Krughoff.

Matters arising

Common entity definitions

Mario Juric, Architecture

Mario Juric expressed concern that we have conflicts in the way we use common terminology within DM. To some extent this had been covered in the distant past by the Enterprise Architect "domain model", but this is now defunct. Should we start a new collection of definitions? Gregory Dubois-Felsmann noted that there are two relevant project-level documents, one on acronyms and abbreviations (Document-11921) and one on definitions (Document-14412), which are still being maintained. (They are even mentioned in the OSS.) Kian-Tat Lim mentioned that there are several other similar documents that have been started over the years on Trac and Confluence. Tim Jenness requested that pointers to all these be sent to him.

  • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann Provide links to the project-level acronym dictionary and glossary.
  • Kian-Tat Lim Provide links to the Trac and Confluence glossaries.
  • Tim Jenness create JIRA ticket for examining glossary situation ( DM-9807 - Getting issue details... STATUS )
