This is the home of the LSST's Data Management (DM) Team. Content will be migrated (and re-organized) from trac/wiki over the next several months.
DM Documents
Documents that pertain to the Data Management System software are summarized below, and are described in detail in specific pages.
The LSST Project and DMS requirements and design documents are controlled, and are accessible through a special repository (which requires an account). These documents describe the DMS system as it is intended to exist by the end of the LSST construction phase.
DM Software
The following documents describe the DMS as it exists today, as a functional prototype of the planned system.

The LSST Software User Guide describes how to download, build, and install the LSST Software Stack, how to run the tasks, and how to configure the pipelines to develop your own data reduction pipelines. It will also describe the supporting packages and their use. This document is geared towards end-users (e.g., Level 3, Science Collaborations) and Production operators who primarily need to run the code over large sets of data. Developers and advanced users who need to know both how to run the LSST Software and how to build on top of it may also need to read the LSST DM Developer Guide. |

The LSST DM Developer Guide will document the processes and capabilities available to LSST DM staff developers. This will include the available machines hardware, the development procedures for planned changes (tickets, reviews, merging, etc.), how continuous integration operates, data challenges, etc. This will be the second document a new LSST/DM developer will want to read. |

Reference Material
DM uses Confluence to collect meeting notes and status information. The material here is not structured to provide a convenient entry-point to the DM system. Instead, refer to:
- LDM-294, which describes the high-level organization of the DM subsystem.
- LDM-148, which describes the architecture of the LSST Data Management System.
- The DM Developer Guide, which provides information for project members on procedures, expectations, and how to get their work done.
- The Documentation Hub, which provides an index of technical and management documentation covering all aspects of the DM system.
- Software User Guides, which provide tutorial and reference documentation on DM software products, including:
Teams & Working Groups
The following teams within DM have substantial presences on Confluence:
- DM Leadership Team (DMLT)
- DM System Science Team (DM-SST)
- DM Change Control Board (DM-CCB; formerly the Technical Control Team)
In addition, ad-hoc working groups are established on an as-needed basis.
Services
Information on services currently provided by DM is available through the Developer Guide. The DM services status page on Confluence provides further information and maintenance/outage information.
