Discussion items

  Timelines & Milestones Review

<all>

Baseline Milestones Spreadsheet Review and Checkup:

No changes noted in Baseline Doc (noting that Vera Rubin Observatory was not present at the meeting to report such)

Documents - Google Drive

Update on CONUS Networks

CONUS Networks, including ESnet:

Paul (ESnet) - nothing to report; only work left are AmLight changes in ATL area being worked on

Jeronimo (AmLight):

  • Lumen space is now avail in ATL; x-connects ordered.  AmLight has green light from spectrum provider.  Need to install regen in JAX.  Target for service is 10/30
  • I2 agreement signed on JAX/ATL secondary path.  LOA for x-connect to I2 is in place; need to place work order for that.
  • Working with ESnet on PoP locations for secondary path from JAX that avoid ATL.  ESnet PoP in California seems like a viable option.

Chilean/International Networks Update

Sergio Cofre

Jeronimo Bezerra

Developments in La Serena and end-to-end service to NCSA for upcoming Auxiliary Telescope Traffic and general (internet, mail, voice) traffic

Sergio (REUNA):  Still working with service provider on stability issues with the circuit for the primary path.

Jeronimo (AmLight):

  • RNP is working on SAO-PA backup path.  SAO-BA spectrum - 1st 100GE is available.  Some flapping on the fiber observed.
  • Visit to Chile planned for Oct to refresh AmLight equipment, including phase-out of the Brocades.

USDF - CC-IN2P3 Networks update

Mark Foster

Frederic Loui

USDF - CC- IN2P3 network:

Mark (USDF):  Construction is proceeding on schedule.  New racks are in place and being populated with servers.  Local network infrastructure being deployed.  2nd PerfSONAR box for attachment to USDF needs to be procured.

Frederic (RENETAR):  Nothing new since workshop.  100GE is in place between Saclay and Geneva.

GNOC Services Discussion & Update

David Ripley (GNOC)

Corey Donovan (GNOC)

Jon Sherk (GNOC)

The IU GNOC identified two major areas of discussion to focus on at this point: (1) the issue of making the GNOC ServiceNow ticket system work with the Vera Rubin Observatory Jira ticket system: & (2) the collection of data from the individual LHN service providers.  In absence of anyone to speak for the Vera Rubin Obs., discussion on the first point was deferred until the next meeting.  In terms of data collection, the GNOC's current process for AmLight data collection was discussed.  Ultimately, however, it was decided that this discussion needs the NET to collectively inform the GNOC what it wants to be collected.
