0810Requirements Clarifications and Verification PlansJeff Kantor

Update:

Working on latest LCRs for LSE-78 updates.

Virtual NOC requirements (need to specify consistent, general requirements for failure tracking, notification, weather maps, MADDash, etc.) Write up a short requirements document, which can be done after demo and installation. Need to have VNOC in place for commissioning with ComCam (NLT early FY20)

0815Network Design and End-to-End Test Plan and QoS planning

Update:

Introduce Vinicius Arcanjo (new AmLight engineer based at RNP). Helping with QoS plan. Today were supposed to provide results, but hurricane Irma delayed project by a week. Will share plan to mailing list. Installed 2 new servers yesterday connected to switches. Need to run tests. Will publish results for Step 3 next week. E2E Test Plan will be updated after QoS tests. Vinicius can be available to help in Chile with demonstrations, installations.

0845First fiber optic light event planning

Reports from leads regarding ADASS demonstration:

Unknown User (rlambert) Cerro Pachon - La Serena. All equipment is available, but do not yet have access to spaces for installations.  Working to get started around mid October.  Early Nov. to have equipment installed. LSST demo that includes summit to LS part can then be achieved.

Jeronimo Bezerra Santiago - Chicago, overall architecture/plan. Santiago to Huechuraba should be ready by early October. Shipping equipment to AURA, they will ship to Chile (discussion regarding shipping contacts/logistics). Servers will not have LR transceivers in them. Ron said transceivers are in hand, not clear if he was referring to only DWDM site. Need 6 LR transceivers and fibers. Also shipping a 100 G board for Brocade. Will need support for installation in Brocade. In the event shipment does not arrive on time, as a back up plan, use perfSonar servers for the demo. REUNA will be connecting server to interface of DWDM equipment.  Hand off to AmLight at Level3.  This will be a bypass.  Effectively, the server will look like it’s connected to the AmLight switch.

Albert Astudillo for Sandra Jaque La Serena - Santiago, connectivity to ADASS hotel, presentation design, INRIA involvement, fall-back Chile only demonstration. Space, power, cooling are all in place. Has LR transceivers and fibers. Albert will be available for installation at event. Will be meeting first week of Oct with company that will be assisting with install.

DWDM install probably ready middle of first week of October.

Unknown User (kollross) Chicago - Champaign - 4 x 10 G or 6 x 10 G is matter of how many NICs/servers he can round up. He is okay with either 40 or 60 for ADASS week, but not 80+ for a week. Could ramp up higher for a specific short demonstration that would be okay. Also Miami to Chicago via I2 may be a bottleneck. Julio Ibarra says we should alert I2 NOC about this event, so they don't think it is an attack. Maybe they can help with possible congestion, re-routing. Monitoring System will be able to tell us if there is a slow-down Miami - Chicago.

Jeff Kantor Requirements - Construction of LSST is making progress. LSST requirement is Summit - NCSA, not necessary to complete by ADASS or Supercomputing, needs to complete by end of CY17. Use ADASS and Supercomputing to set up and phase into LSST test. It will be of interest in the later demonstration to show monitoring of individual segments, isolation of slow-downs/diagnostics by segment.

Wrap up and next meetingJeff Kantor

Wrap up and Next meeting date and agenda topics:

Ron will be on vacation for most of October. Luis will be his backup, Jeff will be in Chile.

Next meeting will be October 12, focus will be on demonstration.
