Simon

  • Not much to report. No report yet from Dominique  on his attempts to figure out what is wrong with astrometry.net. It has a failure mode (mentioned in his email)  where it runs forever.
  • Simon and team are waiting until after the DESC meeting to start their Summer sprints - that's the 17th of May.
    • Russell has started looking at some of the issues on that sprint; specifically, sanitizing how we treat the XY0 in our stack for images. There is an RFC on that forthcoming.

AndyB

  • Not much to report that's different from his Friday report. He gave a talk the day before to the phoSim Team -  particularly on his W2014 work on DCR analysis and results and what he got out of it. At the meeting,  Pat Burchat pointed him to Joshua Meyers who was also doing a DCR study but  in terms of the impact on deep lensing and sequencing. AndyB expects to have mutually beneficial discussions.
  • No blockers.

Jim

  • The team closed out their sprint the day before, they were having a debrief meeting immediately after this meeting and on the following day, another meeting to plan the next sprint.
  • Question: There was a naming convention for epics and sprints but the naming convention seemed only relevant for sprints but not for epics. Is the naming supposed to be the same for both?
    • Simon: Another Question: Does anyone know if sprint names are unique per board or unique per project?
    • Jim:  I suspect per project.
    • Simon: OK, so we do have to be concerned about this.
    • Jim: I've been making the name of my board the first part of my sprint name.
    • Simon: I've been doing something similar to that.

Dick

  • Dick has nearly finished some new documentation modules.
    • The first is a migration of the startup information on using git. He split the information into 3 pages: 'The LSST Code repositories', 'The Git Crash Course', and ' Gitolite Repository Hosting'. He's redacted, edited and generally made the modules reflect today's DM use of git. He plans on exercising all the examples to ensure they work.
      • He's wondering who might be the best reviewer: K-T or possibly Jacek because he's recently been posting on email regarding the squash and merge protocol.
    • The other module he's been working on is in the Software User Guide. He has a tutorial on generating images using phoSim and a 2 additional modules: "Installing phoSim" and "Building Astrometry.net  files",  He's now looking for a reviewer for this set of documents. Simon agreed to review it.
    • Simon mentioned that  Unknown User (djbard)  and Unknown User (dkg)  are setting up a phoSim Users Group in collaboration with DESC.  He  thought that Debbie had already documented a series of recipes and perhaps Dick might want to consider integrating their work. However, it seems as though they are targeting more power users. Dick will contact them.
      • Simon: The new group is having their first meeting at DESC so Simon will report back to Dick after the DESC meeting.
    • Robyn requested that whenever Dick moves any Trac-based information to Confluence, the Trac page(s) are updated to indicate that the Trac info is obsolete and to provide forward link(s) to the Confluence info.
