Notes

November DMLT F2F
DM All Hands
  • March 6-8th at IPAC. Systems Engineering will have their All Hands at the same time/place.
  • Need two (or three?) people for organizing committee: help set up agenda/organize rooms etc. Unknown User (xiuqin) as one perhaps?
  • Should move to common Confluence page for the joint meeting.

We agreed that Unknown User (xiuqin), John Swinbank and somebody from NCSA would act as the provisional organizing committee.

DM September Monthly ReportWil O'MullaneInput is due by Tuesday, October 17
LSST Science Platform workshop
  • NCSA, SQuaRE, SLAC team memebers need to start travel requests. Shall we ask help from Unknown User (lpetrick) for hotel arrangement?
  • The meeting will run from mid-day Monday December 4th to mid-day Friday December 8th.
  • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann: Circulate draft agenda for Science Platform workshop, ask team leads to indicate how many of their team will be attending.
  • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann: Provide Donald Petravick with LDM-542 (Science Platform Design) in a form that is appropriate for editing/marking up with comments.
Overdue RFCs

RFCs with "Planned end" past "now". (See query table below.)

Change Control Board report
Data Compression WG
  • The RFC is and ready for adoption. I'd request the DMLT to adopt it (on this meeting).
  • The WG chair Robert Gruendl reports that the WG is underresources and unlikely to meet the Oct 31st deadline; would propose that John Swinbank and Robert Gruendl meet to understand & improve the resourcing situation.

We agreed that this RFC cannot be adopted until we properly understanding the resourcing and timeline for this work.

Butler WG
  • Tim Jenness and Jim Bosch will present results from the Butler WG at the November F2F meeting. We expect this to be the conclusion of the Butler WG.
  • In advance of that meeting, they will circulate details of the use cases & requirements they have collected and the proposed design they have produced.
Header Service Design ReviewGregory Dubois-Felsmann (for Kian-Tat Lim)
  • A review of the proposed Header Service (see LCR-) design and requirements was carried out last week at NCSA with the participation of Camera and OCS personnel who were also present for Integration Exercise 5a.
  • Notes are available on Confluence.
  • The review was generally successful: the committee were happy with the basic design of the header service, but some requirements are still unclear and there are loose ends which require chasing down, mostly in the detailed operations concept for the Observatory.
Cross-Subsystem Integration Exercise 5aGregory Dubois-Felsmann

This meeting took place last week to confirm the basic control flow between the OCS and the camera/DM/telescope control systems.

It confirmed that the basic logic for survey observing is executable.

A report on the meeting will be forthcoming, and a further integration exercise will take place in December.

ICD WorkshopGregory Dubois-Felsmann

This meeting took place last week. There are a number of consequences for DM which Gregory Dubois-Felsmann will raise electronically. This will include the format of "TAI" timestamps in telemetry and in databases, closing to changes in LSE-72 (DM-OCS interface) several unfinished LCRs arising from work started at NCSA, and further consideration of the move of the AP system from the Base Facility to the Archive.
