DMLT Meeting Goals

  • Weekly meeting to keep the DM leadership team coordinated, informed, and in agreement on the vision, priorities, and challenges facing DM construction, including surfacing and resolving issues and ambiguities needing our attention. The goal of this meeting is to provide information and decisions that help each one of us better direct our own (or our team's) activities.

Discussion Items

Guidelines: Propose items in line with the meeting rationale (see above); include as much information in the agenda notes; summarize, don't go into details while on the call; maximize time available for discussion.

25 minChange Control Board report

 Change Control Board meeting.

  • See also Change requests of interest to DM.
  • LCR-795, "Updates to DM/EPO interface requirements (LSE-131)": we have (at least) two substantive objections, which will be posted to the change request by DM staff:
    • Not ready to accept any requirement to provide support for transient analysis on single-epoch saturated objects. Eric Bellm to post a comment to this effect to LCR-795.
    • Cannot accept the requirement to transfer all PVIs every night without substantive cost impact analysis. Suggest additional analysis of what the actual EPO use case is and what other means may be available to satisfy it. Tim Jenness to post a comment to LCR-795 to this effect.
    • Note that the latter issue is coupled with a related issue of whether DM itself may accept a change to store all PVIs on spinning disk and/or to provide a light-curve cutout-delivery service with interactive-analysis-friendly response times.
  • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann recommended we approve LCR-586, "Update LSE-209 Software to OCS ICD", as this supports already-in-process work to prepare for Early Integration Exercise #3.
  • Briefly discussed LCR-908, "Keep all Data Releases loaded in database". Mario Juric would like to proceed with this change request independently of one addressing keeping low-latency access to PVIs. This change request is not up for a vote this week.
  • Jeff Kantor would like to get the long-pending LCR-849, "Update LSE-78 LSST Observatory Network Design" approved. Gregory Dubois-Felsmann recommended using this as a test case for the new process defined by Brian Selvy for weekly electronic vote opportunities.
