Project/Science Updates
  • Robert Gruendl has stepped down from the DM-SST and as middleware PO. His time is being redirected to focus more on operations. Thank you Robert for all your contributions to the DM-SST over the years.
  • Leanne and Jim will work on identifying a new PO for middleware
  • JSR went very well. DM was highly commended.

Calibration internal workshop
  • Plans for an internal workshop on calibration processing and data productsdata products@
  • 1 year until first images from ComCam.
  • Goal is to know if we will be ready  and more general reviews don't go deep into pipelines
  • PCW updates were very well received, all devs. got exposure but it was all very rapid.
  • Plan ifor this workshop is to take a deep dive into the status of calibration
  • Questions:
    • For all components of the system, where do we stand.
    • For calibration, where are we with AuxTel reductions
  • Zeljko will rite a charge. Not will not be a formal review
  • RHL: Ask how well is FGCM working now, is it good enough to go on sky then drop the topic. There is no effort to do anything else at the moment. This topic is far from the critical path and not the hardest problem for the processing.
  • RHL: Look at the performance on HSC, summary of where we stand on FGCM. Rest is semi-virtual, FCGM will work so the rest is not high priority
  • It will require RHL, YA, MLF
  • CBP: h/w currently sitting in Tucson,
  • KB: Difference between what is needed in terms of photometric calibrations and basic V&V is different to what we need for DP0.2/DR1.
  • RHL: Commissioning has higher priorities than this.
  • ZI: On what timescale we can plan the review?
  • YA: Yes to something means no to something else. Don't know what we would say no to.
  • LPG: Preferabley after we have reprocessed the HSC PDR2 data again.
  • ZI: I want to know where do we stand with this effort.
  • EB: Had this conversation many times - process failure that we are not communicating to Zeljko. Prefer something that allows us to report on status on a more regular interval.
  • LPG: Agree with Eric.
DiffIm processing of DECam data
  • Suggestion to run the DIffIm pipelines on ~ 1000-epoch deef field DECam data, ~6sq.deg. Overlap with LSST deep fields. 4 DES supernova fields that coincide with LSST
  • Community person is trying to do DiffIm and having trouble
  • We understand HSC very well but DECam is wider and shallower.
  • Independent look at how we are doing on this dataset.
  • DES SN fields have no dithers
  • EB: Very supportive of looking at a large DECam dataset. This has been on our radar. Struggling a little with progessing at the moment and Gen3  at the moment.
  • Running reprocessing campaigns seems to take a lot of effort. The flux in data facilites make it hard.
  • LPG: Wouldlove to do this at the USDF - probably not ready yet
  • Tools getting better slowly for processing. DP0.2 data.

Agreement that this is a good idea.

  •  Leanne Guy follow up with Wil/Richard about doing this at the USDF
User batch requirements TN

(Note from DMLT 2021-09-20 : This should be presented at the next DMLT vF2F)

  • Request for people to contribute use cases via #dm-sst or on a ticket branch
