Discussion Items
Time | Item | Who | Notes |
---|
10min | none | Srini | - Summaryreport.py runtime is down to 30 min or less. Will look into a solution for running mulitple SSTARs simultaneously - right now the output tables written in exportSession.sh are not uniquely named, so they would have to be tagged with Session_sessionID, and then ideally renamed to match the original table names on export.
|
20min | 2. MAF | Iain | - Iain introduced Stefan, LSST's newest IT Systems Administrator, who has considerable MacOS experience.
- permissions and umask issues for multi-user environment seem to be resolved and draft documentation has been distributed. Iain will finalize documentation with Srini & publish to docushare.
- Srini will be creating a document describing the use cases for OpSim software (single user vs. multiuser environments)
- MAF installation was successful - single user, one machine
- Lynne is maintaining the installation instructions on Confluence; Andy asked how long are the instructions - 20-45 commands - could make this simpler with a script.
- Next, Iain will install on opsimblitz2 first ; opsimblitz1 second (Stephan to help)
- Cathy to talk with Kem about how to use MAF and bookkeeping for configuration files & workflow
|
20min | 4. New Machines | Srini | - Proposal is to purchase a machine similar to what we have as a "failsafe"
- If we want to look into increasing capability we will need answers to questions itemized last week (including, what are our requirements for upcoming runs?)
- Srini sent out profiling results for OpSim v3.0 - most of the time is spent in slew calculations.
- Phil had emailed a suggestion for lookup table for slews; need to consider speedup strategies when look ahead is implemented, as spending time on a lookup table for slews will not impact this significant load.
We should set a separate meeting to discuss strategies for speed improvements - Srini will start compiling requriements; Andy says its not easy to scale up to large batches, need to look in to these requirements as well
|
2min | 3. Old machines | Iain | - No objections to the proposed way forward - Iain will obtain a 2Tb drive.
|
2min | - git
| Andy | - Heather is on it - Andy will touch base with Heather; we should continue to develop OpSim, then have a new date for signing in new code.
|
8min | 5. Opsim v3.0 | Francisco | - Kem and Francisco have been talking about rolling cadence strategies and decided the first concrete steps on implementing rolling cadence.
- The idea is to keep the flexibility as we will want to include from the proposed rolling cadence experiment (Steve's doc) - ALL possible variations of rolling cadence.
- Front-loading some of the observations, but everything else is there, and need to clean up a couple of things first 1 - setting start date at non-integer year, 2- overlapping fields
|
| 7. JIRA | Cathy | - We adjourned the meeting except for Srini, Cathy, Francisco and Kem to clean up our Sprint for next week.
