• IRSA's main page for the WISE and NEOWISE missions
  • The main planned WISE datasets for the 2016-2017 PDAC are listed here.  NB: We do not plan to ingest all of the WISE data products, but only the ones specified:
    • ALLWISE data (IPAC documentation for the November 2013 release), derived from the WISE prime mission through its post-cryo extension (2010-01-07 through 2011-02-01), specifically:
      • AllWISE Source Catalog, comparable to the LSST "Object" database (detections on coadds, in each of the four WISE bands), 747M+ rows
      • (TBD) Reject Table, no direct LSST analogy, 484M+ deep detection source extractions that are either faint objects with flux signal-to-noise ratios below the limit used to define the Source Catalog, duplicate measurements of objects in the Catalog, or spurious detections of noise or image artifacts
      • AllWISE Multiepoch Photometry Database (MEP), comparable to the LSST "ForcedSource" database (forced photometry in single epochs for all Objects), 42G+ rows (NB: contains entries for both Source Catalog and Reject Catalog objects)
        • Column definitions
        • PRELIMINARY: the full set of ingest files for this database are being prepared by IPAC and are expected to be "792 [files], ranging from 17-36 GB in size (bzip2-compressed parts are 3.3-7.1 GB each)", totaling 3.5e9 bytes compressed or 16.9e9 bytes uncompressed (see the expected download file schema and a 1000-row sample file).  The download files are expected to have 48 columns.
        • NEW : The AllWISE MEP database is now available for bulk download
      • (TBC) AllWISE Images Atlas, comparable to LSST "deep coadds" (in each of the four bands), 18,240 4-band calibrated 1.56°x1.56° FITS images
        • 4095x4095, @1.375"/pix
        • FITS format
        • Per atlas "image set" (1 of the 18,240): one image { for each band } x { each of intensity, coverage, uncertainty } = 12 floating-point images
        • There are no mask planes for these co-added images
    • Single-epoch images and source detections from the WISE prime mission through post-cryo extension:
      • Primary mission (from WISE All-Sky Data release; see specifically the "Ancillary Products" section):
        • Single-exposure Image Sets - 1,491,686 calibrated 1024x1024 pix @2.75"/pix FITS image sets for the individual 7.7 sec (W1 and W2) and 8.8 sec (W3 and W4) WISE survey exposures, comparable to LSST "calexps"
        • Single-exposure Source Database - Database of 9,479,433,101 "source" detections from Single-exposure images, comparable to LSST "Source" database
      • 3-band cryo mission (from WISE 3-band Cryo Data release; see specifically the "Ancillary Products" section):
        • Single-exposure Image Sets - 392,879 calibrated 1024x1024 pix @2.75"/pix FITS image sets for the individual 7.7 sec (W1 and W2) and 8.8/4.4/2.2/1.1 sec (W3) WISE survey exposures
        • Single-exposure Source Database - Database of 3,703,319,374 "source" detections from Single-exposure images
      • Post-cryo mission (from NEOWISE Post-Cryo Data release):
        • Single exposure image sets - 901,271 calibrated 1016x1016 pix @2.75"/pix FITS image sets for the individual 7.7 sec W1 and W2 WISE survey exposures
        • Single-exposure Source Database - Database of 7,337,642,955 "source" detections from the Single-exposure images
      • Totals:
        • 2.8 million image sets
        • 20.5 billion source detections
        • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann Insert here discussion of the content of the single-epoch image sets NB: we decided not to serve the images directly.
    • Single-epoch images and source detections from the reactivated NEOWISE mission (NEOWISE Reactivation 2016 Data release, covering the first two years):
      • Single-exposure Source Database - Time-tagged fluxes, positions and measurement information for 38,159,806,157 source detections extracted from the Single-exposure images, comparable to the LSST "Source" database
      • Single-exposure Images - 5,055,732 calibrated 1016x1016 pix @2.75"/pix FITS image sets for the individual 7.7 sec (bands) W1 and W2 NEOWISE survey exposures, comparable to LSST "calexps"
      •  Note that since this page was first written the NEOWISE Year-3 data release has occurred (on 2017-06-01), so now the Single-exposure Source Database for NEOWISE totals some 57.8 billion source detections in the two warm-mission bands, W1 and W2, and there are now 7,718,110 image sets.
      • IRSA is working on creating export files for the Single-Exposure Source Database.  As of this writing it is not clear whether the files in the release will be grouped by year or not.
