May scrub

ops - pre scrub meet ..   https://doodle.com/meeting/organize/id/dBPyx2oa  may 18th ?

Tim, Yusra, Frossie, Richard, Cristian ..

For Bob/Phil meeting - may 31  supposed to put slides in https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1xxi1ECFJVcNB0SqsBjuc_pAQZ3vxVy78ZH3BJUVnZQ4/edit#slide=id.g23ca87c7605_0_81

One thing in there is to agree on the satellite security stuff - 2FTE for 2 years until start of ops and then 1 there after 50:50 SLAC and UW   0 is this too much (in next 2 years?) (DMTN-199 update on the way)

AMCR

May 18,19 -   slides https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1rTtMfb00RCVjxrqwEQt-jrh3tNR60nqHjPgShoPCoVM/edit#slide=id.g23b5dc968b0_0_326

  • Richard called on for USDF slide(s) (40 minutes!!  But likely a lot of Q&A...)

USDF deck(copy of last one)  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1CG1dIOrpl7pc27jfqsIhs0ZlXN20ve9rP8lZD4IYmxo/edit#slide=id.g2408472c5dd_0_700

Non-USDF-capable StaffKian-Tat Lim

Should we have a policy and process for staff (including Commissioning and in-kind contributors) who cannot obtain USDF accounts?

  • 3 people already who are struggling with this (2 hires, 1 in-kind, another in-kind in the wings...)
  • Richard: re-submitting the 2 hires; waiting for one because of expired visa
  • Wil: update to DMTN-199 is clear: no comm. data outside SLAC...
  • K-T: precursor and DP data only; maybe >30d comm. window but this would be (technically) complicated...  Easier if staff-only.  Needs bespoke systems?  Wil: may have to; we have 3+ already...
  • Wil: access on google instead of SLAC, but then need dev containers etc. on cloud for this
  • K-T: nicest way to do it would be Butler c/s; USDAC in cloud pointing to backend data at SLAC; like a release to a limited audience
  • Eric: maybe overlap with AP/auxtel data rollout work
  • Leanne: PST concerned images might get out before major publicity events this way; needs care!
  • Wil: explicit guidance for staff on these risks is maybe warranted
  • Yusra/Robert: some precedent for setting up users like this at Princeton...  Maybe this plus c/s Butler to USDF?  This might be a better alternative than Google...
  • Jim: that's some support burden for Princeton; some help from USDF staff (re. setting up batch etc.) if possible would be very much appreciated...

Decision:

  • We will attempt to support these users via accounts at Princeton, as there is precedent, precursor data is already available without needing to wait for client/server Butler, and Commissioning data will be able to be copied to non-public, staff-only locations after the 30 day embargo period.  Collaboration with the DRP team will be simpler (though not simple); collaboration with AP is acknowledged to be a bit more difficult; but in both cases it shouldn't be any worse than if we used the cloud.
  • Getting support from USDF/Middleware to have the Princeton batch setup work like the USDF should not be a problem.
