All hands meeting in mid-April to announce updated schedule.

update on where we are

  • Interest in getting summit cluster going.
  • bps report ticket still in progress for parsl.
  • Sufficient testing at USDF suggests that htcondor is acceptable and people are happy. Uncontroversial choice. Jim Chiang agrees that htcondor is the simplest option for the summit.
  • Summit would use native htcondor, not slurm.
  • How do we make final decision? Need to discuss with summit team. Greg Daues is available to help summit deployment. (K8S vs native install).
  • Have to accept that we are going to be supporting bps htcondor and bps parsl.
  • Parsl support will involve having to validate bps/parsl against current parsl version every time we update rubin-env.
  • Maybe consider seeing whether we could help Princeton migrate to bps/htcondor.
  • Final decision:
    • use htcondor at the summit (without Slurm).
    • HTCondor is preferred system for developers.
    • Continue to support bps/parsl at a low level. (DESC continue to use it)
