DMLT Meeting Goals

  • Weekly meeting to keep the DM leadership team coordinated, informed, and in agreement on the vision, priorities, and challenges facing DM construction, including surfacing and resolving issues and ambiguities needing our attention. The goal of this meeting is to provide information and decisions that help each one of us better direct our own (or our team's) activities.

Project updates

John Swinbank

  • Bill Gressler has handed in notice, and will be leaving the project.
    • Planning for transition underway. 
    • Will be a T&S team meeting at 11 Project today to discuss this; please be discreet until then.
    • Bill is broadly fine, and has another job lined up.
  • Coating secondary mirror started today. Will take two weeks.
  • Intensive hiring in Chile; 6–7 positions open.
  • Camera incident.
    • Damage to RTM due to accidental crane operation while it was being removed from its container.
    • Visible damage.
    • Hoping this is just to one connector on one board; if so, it is a relatively cheap fix. Investigations still ongoing.
    • Lots of discussion about improving procedure.
    • Please share this with your team!
  • Safety incident with a rental car at the AURA Recinto in La Serena; no DM impact.
  • Workplace culture update coming... look for changes to website and discussion at LSST 2019.

  • LCR coming for above spec. read noise on corner raft. Expect the raft to be “fine”. Was discussed at last week's PST
