DMLT Meeting Goals

  • Weekly meeting to keep the DM leadership team coordinated, informed, and in agreement on the vision, priorities, and challenges facing DM construction, including surfacing and resolving issues and ambiguities needing our attention. The goal of this meeting is to provide information and decisions that help each one of us better direct our own (or our team's) activities.

  • M2 in port in Chile.
    • No insects in the container.
    • No visible problems.
    • Won't be further inspected until it reaches the summit (~1 week).
  • Victor & T&S management in Chile last week.
    • Taking direct control of dome construction.
  • L3 blank acceptance on Friday.
    • Some flatness non-conformance, but the team are convinced that this is acceptable.
  • M1M3 test readiness review also on Friday.
    • Passed, with some action items.

  • Brief summary of Auxiliary Telescope Planning Workshop - December 3, 2018.
  • The goal of the meeting was to define the criteria to ship the spectrograph to Chile and to put in place a plan to achieve this.
    • Produced a long list of items that have to be accomplished; will appear in Jira (work in progress by Leanne Guy & Michael Reuter)
    • Also procedures for shipping if all of the criteria are not met.
  • This is a commissioning activity — Michael Reuter will be leading it.
  • Discussion of:
    • Terminology
    • Spectral reduction
    • Configuration
    • Building a verification plan
    • ...etc.
    • Useful for getting everybody on the same page.

  • Change requests of interest to DM
  • Several long-pending LCRs approved by Victor, including LSE-61 and LSE-68. Kian-Tat Lim implementing in MagicDraw.
  • Nothing currently blocking us.
  • Selected still-in-progress LCRs:
    • Header Service LCR-1494 for LSE-400 (in "studied" state):
      • Updates to requirements coming from K-T.
    • Data Rights policy LCR-1395 for LPM-261 (in "studied" state):
      • Currently being worked on by Bob Blum.
      • A sanity-check technical review by DM will be required following these changes (although we don't expect any issues) to ensure that the policies proposed are implementable with the current LSP design, before sending the document for agency review.
    • Image naming convention LCR-1424 (in "pending refinement" state):
      • Basic agreement, but still waiting for Systems Engineering to write it up properly.
      • Not holding up any work.
      • Likely to be written up in LSE-69 Camera-DM ICD.
