  • Weekly meeting to keep the DM leadership team coordinated, informed, and in agreement on the vision, priorities, and challenges facing DM construction, including surfacing and resolving issues and ambiguities needing our attention. The goal of this meeting is to provide information and decisions that help each one of us better direct our own (or our team's) activities.

Just checking on the update from last year ..

  • Please only update the file for your subsystem but have a look at the System level scope options and comment as necessary.
  • Add new Scope and De-scope options to the bottom of the existing lists in the appropriate tab.
  • You need to edit existing Available entries. Please don't delete any rows. Update the status (see #5 below), refresh dates in the future (see#7 below) if option is still available, and update the language to be consistent with Project status. No action is required if the entry is in state Implemented or Unavailable.
  • Each subsystem should aim for De-scope options to be around 10% of your remaining budget in current day dollar amounts.
  • The status of the entries can only be Available, Unavailable or Implemented
  • When you change an entry please add an explanatory note in the comment field.
  • Early date and Latest date columns need to be to quarterly fidelity 1/01, 04/01, 07/01, 10/01 and year rather than just year.
  • Some comments in red preceded with "ZI" are comments for your reference/consideration from Zeljko.
  • Subsystem scientists should write/review the scientific impacts. Zeljjo and Victor will do a final review of all impacts.
  • SE & Commissioning: a new blank sheet has been created for Commissioning, any commissioning related (de)scope options should be moved from the SE sheets into this new commissioning one and apportion the cost/value for NSF vs DOE.

billion object spectra survey - will all be on the web

Wide discussion on software and software careers, have lessons been learned on funding development. LSST did this well. Smaller projects are still under funded for software. Open source also discussed.

Whitepapers will be written over next 6 - 12 months. Large spectra survey, Software fellowships .. citable software. Propose NSF to have software calls. How to get software in to gradschool without squeezing out astrophysics..
