WhoNotes
Jacek
  • No blockers
  • QServ Meeting notes have been added to Confluence
  • Jacek is starting a weekly Data Access/Data Archive meeting on Mondays at 11am PT.
  • Jacek setup DM AHM sign-up to capture details for each attendee including travel dates and rental car need. This will allow DM Tucson to arrange a blanket Trip Request for all attendees. So sign up now if you're planning on attending..
K-T
  • The MW meeting notes from yesterday are available on the dm-devel maillist on 11/21/2014 12:20pm
  • Steve and Greg managed to work through their blockers.
  • K-T has been working with Mario on Process and Leadership tasks.
  • K-T decided that he was giving the MW group unfair access to his time and has decided to randomly drop in on weekly meetings held by other groups: Apps (East and West), SUI, Qserv, Data Access.
    • Team Leads: K-T asks you to send him an invite to your regularly scheduled meetings so that he can update his calendar. You might also want to enter your regularly scheduled meetings in the DM Meeting calendar.
Mario
  • Mario hasn't had much time for software related work.
  • He's been working on streamlining the Decision Making processes and the Change Control process in DM.
  • He's also busy on the job applications for the LSST DM Lead at UW.
Simon
  • Simon has been assisting the new Sims developer, Michael, come onboard.
    • Michael made excellent progress already - in getting OpSim EUPS-distrib installable.
  • Simon has also been working with Mario, AndyC and Zelko on the applications.
  • Simon's team will do backlog processing next Wednesday and then plan their next sprint.
John
  • No blockers.
  • Perry has continued working on the measurement framework overhaul.
  • John landed his first LSST contribution: DM-1128, span based grow operations for footprints.
  • The Science Pipelines group, including both Simon's & John's, will be meeting on Wedneday next week for sprint planning.
Xiuqin
  • Unfortunately, the scribe could not hear Xiuqin's report either due to workmen sawing thru a concrete block wall outside.
  • Tatiana is working with Serge to clear some issues so she can access the database.
Frossie
  • At the beginning of the week, Frossie squired around Tucson a candidate for the SQuaRE Scientist position. She said it went very, very well.
  • Frossie desired some instant job gratification and thus decided to fix all the open tickets on the JIRA tool itself. This also went well.
    • There is a remaining problem where JIRA slowly degrades in performance over the course of a week until she restarts it. And that MTBF is getting shorter.
Simon:
  • Simon brought up another issue regarding whether or not to rebase commits based on comments made from reviews. The concern was that the review comments would be lost during the rebase. It turns out that does not occur – the old comments do stick around on out-of-date commits.
Jim
  • Jim said that Friday's report was substantially the same as Tuesday's report:
    • Perry is implementing the C++ part of the measurement design.
    • Jim is working mostly on HSC work this week.
Frossie
  • Frossie wants to know, for each repo, the name of a developer who acts as a contact for that repo.
    • Jim pointed out that concept is similar to the Trac list which paired each Component (aka repo) with a list of developers who wanted to be contacted whenever that component was involved in Ticket processing. Jim felt that DM would have lost a valuable capability if that notification went away in the transition to JIRA Issues (and if it hasn't, he'd like to know how to configure it).
  • There was a side discussion on the concept of ownership which, Frossie thought, DM intentionally avoided by not having an 'Author' in the source boilerplate.
    • Mario thinks each package should have a parent to monitor and encourage the package's development.
