WhoNotes
Jacek
  • Jacek's search for new employees is progressing.
    • a new person came on board this week; once Jacek get the official email address, Jacek will introduce him to the group.
    • they're interviewing every day this week.
    • they have 3 additional solid candidates.
  • Jacek is working on the structure for the repos for the areas they are starting to work on next: Data Access, Image Services, etc.
    • He has a plan for the structuring but it is still rough at the edges
    • It's not known how much they'll need to join metadata with Qserv
  • There are no current blockers
    • They closed their October sprint and opened their November sprint although they may be refining it because they have a new person.
K-T
  • K-T sent out the MW Meeting notes this morning on the new dm-devel maillist.
    • K-T already completed his action item noted in that email.
  • K-T is working thru a couple of tasks from Jeff and then will try to get back to the Butler.
Robert
  • Robert introduced two LSST new hires based at Princeton:
    • John Swinbank - coming from Amsterdam, chairs the VO Event Working Group;
    • Lauren MacArthur - worked with the CADC prior to migrating to Princeton.
    • They're working on getting Lauren MacArthur a confluence etc. account.
  • The Team's is looking over the current 6 month plan in order to effectively assimilate the new members.
  • Jim and Robert just returned from Japan. Robert says we will be seeing a little bit of the work they did there filtering back at some point.
  • Jacek and Robert had a brief discussion about a a new HSC member in Japan to whom Robert had given Jacek's contact details since they both share an interest in databases.
Jim
  • Jim said that he and Perry are ready to start the next sprint.
    • They need some Design Reviews to occur before work can begin. Jim thinks that the topics are not of widespread interest so the Reviews will probably only garner a small number of participants.
  • Jim asked Simon if he was holding up Simon's work. Microphone-muted Simon returned a 'Thumb's up' signal with a smile. The interpretation of that is left to the reader; this viewer assumed Simon meant all was well.
  • Frossie asked Jim to summarize the resolution of the 'Anaconda issue'.
    • Jim directed her to K-T; Frossie didn't want to tie up this meeting on that topic so she and K-T will talk offline.
Simon
  • Simon and Russell planned their new sprint and will be starting it soon.
  • Simon said there were no blockers.
  • Simon sent out email for the "[RFC] --Tool for creating a Camera from FITS files".
    • He received only 2 comments and is soliciting more feedback or forever hold your peace.
    • Simon used the NOAO Standard FITS keywords as a starting point since, as K-T also pointed out, the Camera group was already using them.
      • This raised a cry of alarm from Frossie who offered to send an alternative Standard FITS Keywords list to Simon.
      • Simon said that you would be allowed to override the default keywords using your own set, if desired.
    • Robert and Simon agreed that neither Camera group nor he were wedded to NOAO Standard FITS header keywords.
Frossie
  • Frossie is simplifying her task list by going with gitFat for large binaries. She reserves the right to revisit the decision later.
    • She needs a mechanism for allowing project people to push data because the public rsync feed is read-only.
  • Re: Iterating on the repository solution discussion: we have shown proof of concept that we can rename anything to anything. Nobody is making anyone rename anything except we are going to prepend the bubble name to the current repo name so we don't break eups in one fell swoop. Going forward there is going to be a point where we are going to break the equivalence between the eups package name and the repo name so we have the choice of merging or splitting repositories as we like - as time goes forward.
  • There seems to be a way to back-end port the comments on past merge commits so there is a proper way of homing the Stash review discussion onto GitHub.
    • This is a work in progress.
    • Hopefully that iwill be completed today so she can get back to the Release.
  • Robert added that the search for another hire into SQuaRE is making progress.
  • Frossie inquired if the SAT could start at 11:30 PDT since the Coord Meeting seems to be coming in under 30 minutes now.
    • K-T will inquire of the SAT participants.
