Simon | - Simon had a managerial question: This sprint a task has turned out to be much harder than expected when originally estimated for story points. The question is how to handle the overage. Simon proposed two options:
- make a stop-gap change that will half-way do what was wanted and be on time; or
- do the 'right' change and be late.
- Simon prefers option 2 becasue overall it will waste less time. He doesn't know if that is correct.
- Mario felt that was the right call. But he doesn't know if Jeff wants to track it somehow. We will have slippages sometimes. Give Jeff a head's-up to ask how he wants this handled.
- The scribe asks belatedly that Simon Krughoff report back to the group the resolution to this quandary.
- Jeff responded with the following in email:
In general, the right thing to do is to do what you can to keep on schedule, but not if it jeopardizes an LDM-240 key goal. Best to discuss with at least the team lead, Mario, and K-T to assess if that is an issue. Since we do not have that issue in W15 it should be safe to adopt the less aggressive goal and keep schedule. - Simon will have a design for the 'camera repository maker from file' RFC later today.
