Discussion items
AndyB
- Andy fixed ip_diffim's unittests so that asserts check against 'almost equal'.
- Andy will be spending the next 2 weeks working on Task documentation; he has 4 tasks to deal with and is starting after the meeting.
K-T
- The Middleware team has been moving forward.
- They are instrumenting the current simulator to better understand it and to prepare a couple things:
- First: making a nice demo, maybe something more visual; and
- Second: to understand some of the time delays that are involved in running the simulation that HTCondor produces.
- These are moving ahead
- They are instrumenting the current simulator to better understand it and to prepare a couple things:
- Steve is also helping JeffK with some of the NFS questions.
- K-T has made progress on the butler design; he's posted a Confluence page: Data Butler - Current Design, with a slightly enhanced design sketch since the last time - which was many months ago. The document will be discussed at the noon SAT meeting.
Jacek
- The group is conducting interviews for their position(s). The pool has a number of reasonable candidates.
- Regarding logging: it is packaged, it's working and is under review.
- Jacek told K-T that DB team doesn't need to wait for Fabrice to return before releasing log and lox4cxx . The DB Team will put the new log package. into the official normal distribution site.
- The product is packaged in two parts: 'log4cxx' is an external package being distributed from Apache; and 'log' which is replacing 'pex_logging'. 'Log' is a new implementation but provides the same features as the old 'pex_logging'.
Dick
- DIck is currently looking into iPython Notebooks in order to determine what would be most interesting and illustrative to do with them.
- Question: Has the schedule been finalized for the AllHands Meeting for Mon morning? Are we planning any formal or informal session for then?
- K-T said there is nothing formal planned for Monday am but feels DM should try to use that slot if possible.
- Dick motive for asking was to determine if there was some reason why he should arrive at the Meeting on Sunday night instead of Monday morning.
- K-T knows Jeff doesn't want anything planned for Friday afternoon.
- Dick asked Knute and friends to take a look at the Software User Guide to get a high level sense if there are any holes that need to be addressed by the AllHands Meeting.
- K-T let Dick know that he (K-T) still has Dick's document in his review stack.
Robyn
- Robyn is working on the 3rd Party software upgrades. She thinks she has the astrometry.net problem scoped out. Stay tuned.
