Project/Science Updates
  • JSR in Tucson next week.
  • New project manager for commissioning, Anastasia Alexov starts this week - she will remain based in Colorado.
  • Eric Bellm gave a talk on AP readiness to the PST last week.

Key takeaways from Eric's talk:

  • Effort on PP from across DM once USDF stabilizes is a priority.
    • Suggested topic for upcoming DMLT
  • IC next year in terms of tooling from next year
  • AP continue work on execution time but aim first for a 120s goal (SRD minimum. Not setting aside the 60s requirement  -but ensure that all other pieces are ready - i.e once operationally ready then we can prune down the execution time.
  • Good communication up to PST on status and issues - much appreciated.
AFS requirement review  & ANTARES partnership
Requirements flowdown review:
  • Goal:  maintain the SRD with no descopes if possible and deliver the functionality in partnership with ANTARES
  • LSR: LSR-REQ-0025 breakage  - need to fix text and flowdown.
  • DMSR: What changes would we need to make to 0342/-348 to have a formal understanding with an external team and to verify the requirement
    • Need and MOU /SLA
    • Add requirements to MOU  to make the job for the 3rd party provider better defined and clarify context
    • MOU becomes part of the project execution plan
    • Verification should not change but execution environment will change
    • Can point to MOU in the verification.
    • Relationship with community brokers was partly motivated by requirement to provide the alert stream to brokers, rather than this requirement related to Alert Filtering Service. In other words, the agreement was to hand alerts to the brokers (after which Project does not have direct control). The Alert Filtering Service implies a more specific service.
    • No need to change requirements but add an MOU.
  • MOU will contain performance requirements and community access requirements to entire LSST data rights holders
    • Modest performance requirements. Will likely exceed these modest thresholds, but don't need to change requirement text.
  • Flowdown to Portal
    • Original driver was to provide a UI for the AFS, not for a Portal interaction to the Portal. In the era of an MOU, ANTARES would provide this interface.
    • Portal does have ADB query capabilities.
    • Ask ANTARES to do this link to the Portal from the ANTARES/AFS interface
    • Careful not to provide privileged access to the RSP to ANTARES
    • Change wording on PTL-0119. Add wording to MOU.  RFC only needed
  • Eric Bellm Draft MOU based on discussion above Update 2022-10-11: RDO-61: Community Alert Broker MoU drafted
Acceptance & RSP-A test statusGregory Dubois-Felsmann
  • Gregory making good progress. Working through some technical issues to produce the test report.
