  • AAS this week, several people involved (Melissa, Jeff, others?) There is a Rubin Observatory Open House (2021-01-12, 12:00 ET). Some nice videos have been made by the CET: 
  • No guidance yet from the agencies on the replan process. Steve K says it is premature to come up with a replan until work on the TMA has restarted. Current plan has 10 months until the TMA is handed over to the project. 
  • r band filters are now mounted in the frame at Livermore. No news on y and z band filters from Materion. 
  • Camera team still working to understand issues with the refrigeration system. LSST Camera Refrigeration Advisory Meeting this week (Zeljko Ivezic attending) 
  • SAC have put together a Broker review team. Michael Strauss will chair.  Colin Slater and Spencer Nelson  will join as ex officio to consult on technical aspects of the DMS. LDM-612 give Q2 2021 for a provisional broker selection (i.e end June). Michael Strauss thinks this is still feasible. 
  • Michelle Poland has left the project, contact Aime with administrative requests.

Requirements on compressed PVIsGregory Dubois-Felsmann

Proposed requirements: lossy-compression-RFC-20210103.txt

  • This update follows on from RFC-325: Investigate Storing Processed Visit Images (PVIs) and Making PVIs Available to Users. 
  • Gregory is proposing  changes to the DMSR (LSE-61) to implement this RFC.
  • The first 6 requirements are functional in nature, the last one attempts to define a quality requirement on lossy-compressed visit images.
  • The first 5 are fairly straightforward, the last 2 requires some input from the DM-SST.
  • Open question as to whether we want to include a quality criteria or not. 
  • Gregory Dubois-Felsmann Submit an RFC for the compressed-PVI requirements. Make clear that the requirement on quality may require further discussion can be postponed, and should not delay moving forwards on the 6 functional requirements, which need to be approved soon.
