Update on CONUS Networks

CONUS Networks, including ESnet:

Chilean/International Networks Update

Developments in La Serena and end-to-end service to NCSA for upcoming Auxiliary Telescope Traffic and general (internet, mail, voice) traffic:

ComCAM is ready on bench in Base, data transfer during Ops Rehearsal #2 (week of June 1). Data volume average rate ComCAM images for 2 hours, 10 images per minute, 72MB per file (may be compressed down to 32MB), 9 files per image.  Peak rate 30 images per minute for 10 minutes.  So, peak is 72 MB/CCD * 9 CCDs/exposure *30 exposures/minute * 8 bits/byte * 1 minute/60 seconds = 2.592 Gbits/sec

See IP address emails re Border Router changes, doing on Monday (Ron Harris , Renata Frez .  Confirm end to end connection LS - NCSA by end of next week.

Summit is still shut down.  No date for when LATISS will be running again.

NCSA - CC-IN2P3 Networks update

NCSA - CC- IN2P3 network:

Unknown User (kollross) Requested IN2P3/GEANT/RENATER provide list of 5 VLANs to identify one to use.

Stuart McLellan, Richard H-J working to provide map of links from their end.

Rubin Observatory Network Reports and Technical Document:  Julio IbarraJeff Kantor

FY19 NET Report https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZvpaHwIzHHMuqRXJEornIgQNH_8tP_EfiV6S1SzyonU/edit

FY20 NET Report (google Doc until ready, then Word doc in dropbox)

Network Technical Document (Word Doc in dropbox)

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dyykelqqep0bjzn/AABR4YMMyTiML7QNQBmdUPPra?dl=0

Explicitly shared this with Julio and the individual Network Engineers from Rubin, REUNA, FIU, NCSA, and ESnet, but NET members should all be able to access it.  If you have issues accessing the folder let me know.

Need to be ready to submit LCR to baseline this document prior to Pre-Verification Review, publish to review web site on June 1, 2020.  Finish Tech Document:

  • Change introduction to be a spec/baseline document, not a meeting report
  • Change future tense to present tense, as will be configured as of FY22
  • Text description plus notes to indicate known changes needed before FY22
  • Future demonstrations sections change orientation to ongoing maintenance/testing

Network Design and End-to-End Test Plan and QoS planning

Cover implementation in next NET meeting.  Update document with plan before June 1.

Other businessAny

Rubin Observatory Rebaseline - Due to COVID19, the project will be establishing a new cost and schedule baseline, start of full Operations will likely slip 1 year to start of FY24 (Oct 1 2023).  Assume Boca - Atlanta dedicated link will be slipped to FY23.  Develop impact of slip on Networks, primarily cost, and technical risk.
