Update on ESnet agreement

Jeff Kantor

Review open action items.

No new members to introduce.

ESNet technical document submitted to ESnet Director, waiting on costing information.

0810Requirements Clarifications and Verification Plans

Preparing for LSE-78 and LSE-309 change requests.

(Still in the queue, trying to find time.)

0815Network Design and End-to-End Test Plan and QoS planning

Status update.

No QoS updates. For E2E, still exercising Melanox switch. Using multiple 10G DTN nodes will not work for LH tests, not easy to find 2U units with quad ports. Like DTN, but no disks, generates traffic, use 1 x 100 G NIC, Corsa switch has 2 x 100 G ports. Best for testing. Could install in La Serena. Discussing with Unknown User (rlambert), decide by next meeting. Decide for purchasing and installing by end of May. Vinicius Arcanjo create diagram. Unknown User (kollross) put in 100G perfSonar node. Unknown User (rlambert) we bought DWDM with 10 x 10 G ports, moving this direction may cost money. Jeronimo Bezerra says Corsa switch can face DWDM with multiple 10G ports. This test configuration can be kept in place permanently. Can continue to use for network diagnostics during operations.

In final phase of Ciena DWDM for Spectrum (SP - MIA), contract in place, working on last mile between 2 data centers in SP (SP4 Equinox NAP of Brazil). Goal is everything in place by 1-Jul-18. First 100G on Spectrum in time for most of hurricane season. Working on services connecting BR - ATL. Working on MOU where terminating in SP to Santiago (Silica, REUNA, or L3). ACTION FIU-REUNA discussion.

December Demonstration:

Finishing report EXISTING ACTION

NSF approved press release of December demonstration. LSST is not generating a public press release, just internal LSST Community communications: Posted on website, distributed on social media, & included in current Digest.

LSST key milestones relevant to Long-Haul Networks:

Here is a list of key milestones for the project. We need a description the active links, equipment, bandwidths, and available services at each point for upcoming integration and commissioning reviews. Jeff Kantor would like to see a table and diagram(s) for each one. Updated version to fill out is attached:

20180411 Month End Baseline Milestones for LHN.xlsx

The second row shows the initials of the person responsible for filling out that column. If I have made any errors in what I filled out, please edit. Please highlight any changes you make.

Plan for next test/demonstration:

Jeff Kantor The LSST Project Plan has a milestone for this year to demonstrate a 100 Gbps over the long-haul networks. We have had discussions about what the end-points could be, how long the demonstration could be, etc. There is an existing action to define the demonstration.

AURA Link:

Jeff Kantor , Julio Ibarra, Unknown User (rlambert), Chris Smith, Jeronimo Bezerra starting discussions on extending/leveraging AURA 40 Gb link. Will continue to cover this in LSST NET meetings until/if there is another more appropriate forum identified. Stay tuned for more details.

Site Redundancy in Santiago:

See document Julio Ibarra circulated examining ways to get site redundancy in Santiago. Julio Ibarra would like to develop MOA that can be baselined so that we all agree to plan.
