December Demonstration:

Preparing report and press release of December demonstration.

Vinicius finished/uploaded draft of report last week.

Jeff merging the various press release versions next week.

Plan for next test/demonstration:

Julio Ibarra Next demonstration can be from Miami to NCSA, queried use of internet2 through Global NOC, got favorable response on 40 Gb, could request 100 Gb, best is scheduled between midnight and 6:00am.

Jeronimo Bezerra Next test would also be valuable to use new DTNs. What can we do to simulate LSST application. Can we test TCP ramp up? Try relationship between LSST and AURA backup.

Jeff Kantor Doing real image transfer should be done when NCSA archiver-forwarders are ready to test over long-haul network. Probably not until 2019. First use will be Auxiliary Telescope in early 2019, but that won't be "real" archiver-forwarder, it will be a quick and dirty prototype. We could simulate somehow. NCSA is testing over a simulated network latency test bed.

Unknown User (kollross) Not a good idea to distract Jim Parsons now. Real a-f will have 20 servers simultaneously transferring, with protocol to avoid saturation. Actual a-f work is focused on DAQ side interface. Might be able to get access 100 Gb perfSonar for a demonstration. Question whether worth doing over internet2 if real link will be over ESnet.

AURA Link:

Jeff Kantor , Julio Ibarra, Unknown User (rlambert), Chris Smith, Jeronimo Bezerra starting discussions on extending/leveraging AURA 40 Gb link. Will continue to cover this in LSST NET meetings until/if there is another more appropriate forum identified. Stay tuned for more details.

Site Redundancy in Santiago:

(See document Julio Ibarra circulated examining ways to get site redundancy in Santiago.) Julio Ibarra would like to develop MOA that can be baselined so that we all agree to plan.
